A 25 year old man is facing charges of first degree murder and felony animal abuse following the stabbing death of his fiancé in Malmo.
The Nebraska State Patrol says Kolton Barnes was arrested for the death of his 27 year old fiance Kayla Matulka. Around 9:30 Wednesday morning, Matulka's neighbor reported to the Saunders County Sheriff’s Office that they had found Matulka dead in her Malmo home. Investigators say she had suffered several stab wounds. A dog was also found dead at the home.
The Nebraska State Patrol says Matulka's death occurred sometime between Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. The investigation remains ongoing at this time.
