The Omaha Police Department is reminding residents of the city's fireworks rules and regulations as the Fourth of July draws closer.
Police say consumer fireworks can be set off in Omaha from Thursday, July 2nd through Saturday, July 4th, from noon to 11 PM daily. Anyone lighting fireworks must be 16 years old or older. Those between the ages of 12 and 16 can set off fireworks only under direct supervision of someone over the age of 19.
Fireworks complaints should go to the non-emergency number at 402-444-5802. 911 should be called if there is immediate danger to life safety or property due to fireworks use.
Those found in violation of the fireworks ordinance could be cited for a criminal violation and may be subject to a $200 fine for each separate conviction.
Fireworks sales are allowed between Sunday, June 28th and Saturday, July 4th.
