A special prosecutor has been assigned to the Grand Jury investigation into the death of 22 year old James Scurlock.
The special prosecutor chosen to oversee the independent investigation into Scurlock's death will be attorney Frederick Franklin, who has been appointed to convene a grand jury "as soon as feasible," by Judge Shelly Stratman.
Last week, Douglas County Attorney Doug Klein declined to pursue charges against Jake Gardner, the man who shot Scurlock in the Old Market. Days later, Kleine agreed to file a petition to convene a grand jury, saying he was not afraid to have his work scrutinized.
