Governor Pete Ricketts is praising the Nebraska National Guard. Ricketts says 400 guard members are assisting in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
That's more than the number of guard members who were called to serve during last year's floods.
Six teams of guard members have assisted with COVID-19 testing in 29 cities, helped with personal protective equipment distribution and aided volunteers at food banks.
Ricketts announced that as of Tuesday 491 people had been tested at TestNebraska sites in Omaha and Grand Island. Ricketts says the goal of the program is to test three-thousand people for the coronavirus each day.
All tests are by appointment only.
