The Douglas County Health Center is asking the Omaha community for donations for patients and residents whose lives have been upended by the coronavirus outbreak at the facility.
In a Tuesday press release, the Health Center said that they are looking for a number of activity-based donations that would help keep their residents active while having to isolate. You can read the full statement below.
"Our recent news updates and stories depict the heartbreaking news around the positive COVID-19 cases at our facility. Behind these trying times are residents who have had to adjust their lifestyles to keep each other safe.
Our activities and therapy departments have adapted all treatments to continue to enrich the lives of our residents. To enhance our new activities and maintain the highest level of precautions, we are need of additional supplies to provide our residents.
These supplies include new packages of large print easy Sudoku puzzles, word searches, puzzles (fewer than 200 pieces), adult coloring books, crayons, colored pencils, washable markers, colored paper, water color paint kits, and dry erase boards. For the support of our staff, we are seeking donations of stretchy headbands with buttons to hold masks, Life Savers Mints and mint gum. In order to donate these supplies, please coordinate with our recreational team by calling 402-444-7413. We will be taking additional steps to receive donations and protect our residents.
