A Douglas County deputy attorney has tested positive for COVID-19 coronavirus .
The identity of the man has not been revealed, but it is known that he contracted the virus while at an out-of-town training.
County Attorney Don Kleine says the attorney was contacted by the people he was training with. The caller informed the deputy attorney that someone he was with during the training had tested positive for the virus.
The Douglas County employee was in the office for several days and could have interacted with more than 30 people a day in his office. Courtroom appearances makes that number go up when you figure in bailiffs, judges, defense attorneys and other people he would have have professional interactions with.
Kleine says this will not slow down his office as they've been preparing for this situation by having some people working from home. "Now we know those people have not been exposed so they’re going to come in and fill in for the people that have to leave and will continue our operations in that regard."
The deputy attorney hadn’t been feeling well when he returned from his training trip about 10 days ago and doctors told him to stay home until he felt better which he did. It wasn’t until he found out someone he had been around was positive that he got tested.
