LINCOLN, Nebraska - Governor Pete Ricketts signed LB 1198, a bill that provides $83.6 million in emergency funding to help the State of Nebraska combat COVID-19 coronavirus.
“I am grateful to State Senators for coming together to approve the emergency funding,” said Gov. Ricketts. “Nebraskans across the state have united in the battle against this virus. From Local Health Departments to frontline healthcare workers to volunteer organizations, winning the war will require a team effort from everyone. I also urge each and every Nebraskan to take direct action to support their neighbors and local businesses as we confront this public health emergency together.”
Money will go to the Department of Health and Human Services and the University of Nebraska Medical Center for such things as medical and laboratory equipment, personal protective equipment, UV light boxes, staffing and testing. The money will go from the state's rainy day fund to the governor's emergency fund to the military department for a new program: the Governor's Emergency Program — COVID-19.
