The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services confirmed 10 additional cases of COVID-19 in three Nebraska counties on Saturday evening. “Both state and local health departments are testing and publicly reporting their cases," health officials say.
With testing "ramping up" in Douglas County, the health department said Saturday night six more people have tested positive for coronavirus in the county. It's a mix of men and women. Three are travel-related cases and three had contact with previous positive cases. The latest cases bring the county's total to 34. The state health department is reporting Nebraska’s total is 48.
Two of the travel related cases, a man in his 30's and a man in his 60's, were confirmed positive for COVID-19 on Friday , but further investigation was done on Saturday. “We anticipated that increased testing would uncover more cases of COVID-19,” Health Director Dr. Adi Pour said in a statement. “That has proven to be the case. Both are experiencing mild symptoms and are self-isolating while recovering at home.”
With the development of community spread, the health department to advising precautions be taken everywhere, not just in locations previously listed as having the potential for exposure. The DCHD also noted that many sick with the virus have mild or no symptoms at all.
