Shots Fired Inside West Omaha Hy-Vee

OMAHA, Nebraska - Shots were fired inside the Hy-Vee at 180th and Q Street around 6:30 p.m Tuesday.

6 News reports dispatch received a number of calls from people reporting tha shots were fired. Medics were also called to the scene.

Omaha Police and Douglas County Sheriff's Office is at the scene and are interviewing witnesses. Crime tape is up near the pharmacy area.

Early reports indicate a man inside the store may have shot himself.

Employee James Baltes tells 6 News, "I heard a loud bang, and I heard somebody yell, 'He's got a gun' and then just started getting as many people who were there into the back into a cooler for a few minutes, and then just out through the back loading area."

Baltes says they took shelter for about five minutes before the "all-clear" was given.

Names have not been released and the investigation continues.
