OMAHA, Nebraska - Nebraska Medicine/UNMC now has a 24 bed unit that is dedicated for confirmed and suspected COVID-19 coronavirus patients who require hospitalization. Two patients have been moved from the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit to this new unit. The biocontainment area is now empty.
A 16 year old boy from Crofton who was in the Biocontainment Unit was released from the hospital after three tests came back negative. A 36 year old Omaha woman remains in critical condition. One evacuee from the Diamond Princess cruise ship who had suffered a fall remains in good condition.
Only one evacuee from the Diamond Princess cruise ship group remains in the quarantine unit.
