SARPY COUNTY, Nebraska - UPDATE: The U.S. Marshals Metro Fugitive Task Force arrested a federal fugitive near Schramm Park on Highway 31 Tuesday after conducting brief surveillance on a State of Nebraska snow plow which was believed to be driven by a fugitive.
While following the plow from a distance, a member of the Fugitive Task Force witnessed the plow leave the road and go into the Platte River.
Law enforcement arrived at the scene and the driver was removed from the plow and taken to a hospital for treatment. The driver was then taken to jail.
The fugitive is now awaiting court on a sealed federal indictment.
The Metro Fugitive Task Force is made up of law enforcement officers from the U.S. Marshals, FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Nebraska State Patrol, Omaha Police Department, Lincoln Police Department, La Vista Police Department, Bellevue Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, Saunders County Sheriff’s Office, Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, Saline County Sheriff’s Office, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Gage County Sheriff’s Office and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
An investigation is underway after a Nebraska DOT plow ended up in the Platte River Tuesday morning by Schramm Park. The driver of the truck was taken to a hospital in serious condition around 8:30 a.m.
6 News reports that U.S. Marshals were following the plow driver in connection to a federal case.
A tow truck pulled the plow out of the river around 10 a.m.
The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Marshals are both conducting the investigation surrounding this case.
