The driver who struck and killed a ten year old girl in a downtown Papillion crosswalk last August pleaded guilty Friday morning to motor vehicle homicide.
in exchange, charges of failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and speeding against 19 year old Masey Lawrence were dropped.
Abby Whitford and her brother were in a crosswalk at Washington and Second streets in Papillion on Aug. 20 when she was struck by Lawrence. She died at the hospital a few days later.
Police say Lawrence failed to yield when the crosswalk lights flashed, but stayed at the scene and turned herself in to authorities in October.
Lawrence is scheduled to be sentenced on April 3.
