LINCOLN, Nebraska - A case of road rage in Lincoln ended with one person booked for terroristic threats and 3rd degree assault.
On January 1st, Lincoln Police say a man, his girlfriend and their children were driving near 14th and Saunders when a Honda Civic tried to cut them off where the street narrows to one lane. The victims kept on going but was followed by the Civic and the occupants were yelling at them to stop and fight.
At 14th and Fletcher, the victim told police the Civic rear-ended his vehicle on purpose.
The driver of the Civic, 20 year old Tyquan Petty got out and started walking to victim's car. That man felt threatened so he grabbed a tire iron and got out and told Petty to stay away and he was going to call the police. A video confirms those details.
Police say that Petty then started hitting the victim with his fists. That is when the victim hit Petty with the tire iron and that ended the assault.
The victim's girlfriend saw him getting hit and got out to intervene but a female passenger in the Civic sprayed her with pepper spray and hit her in the face.
The Civic took off but not before the assault victim used the tire iron to break the back window.
Petty later showed up at a hospital for treatment from being hit with the tire iron. That is when police made the arrest. Petty also had an outstanding warrant.
Police interviewed several witnesses who called in the fight to 911. The investigation continues.
