My big takeaways are...
Sort of shocked Marriage Story scored more noms than The Irishman or Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood. But I guess a strong female co-star was the difference that gave Marriage Story 6 noms to the other's 5.
Robert DeNiro not being nominated for The Irishman seems odd. Jonathan Pryce in The Two Popes must be PRETTY good. We'll find out when that debuts on Netflix in a few weeks.
I don't really consider Adam Sandler's lack of a nomination a snub. Sandler should never EXPECT anything given his track record.
Greta Gerwig's name being left off the Best Director list is a bit shocking. Rave reviews are coming in for Little Women (in theaters on Christmas) and after the success (and lack of nomination for Lady Bird) you'd think they'd be eager to make good on that. I loved Joker, but you could have probably taken Todd Phillips name off the list and put in Gerwig (or Noah Baumbach for Marriage Story).
I'm very excited Beanie Feldstein was nominated for Booksmart. One of the best movies of the year.
I was bummed to not see Lupita Nyong'o not nominated for the dual role she played in Us. But who would you take out to put her in? A crowded year for women. Which isn't always the case.
Reminder...nothing else is a snub. Their work just wasn't good enough.
The 2020 Golden Globe Awards will be handed out on Sunday, January 5th on NBC with host Ricky Gervais.
