OMAHA, Nebraska - Omaha police are investigating an act of vandalism at the Union for Contemporary Art at 24th and Lake. A window of the gallery was broken around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
An exhibit at the gallery is controversial and community members gathered there earlier this week to voice their views as to whether part of it should be taken down.
Outside of the building are quotes from Toni Morrison and one includes the "N" word.
6 News reports some in the community, including State Senator Ernie Chambers wants that portion of the display removed. Others say disagree saying it is part of the exhibit and it needs to be taken in context.
It is not yet known if this is a random case of vandalism or if the exhibit itself was targeted The search for suspects continue.
