OMAHA, Nebraska - La Vista Police are warning people to be on the lookout for prop or "movie money".
The number of cases where people are using it to purchase items on Craigslist and other trade and sell websites is on the rise.
Officer Dana Miller tells 6 News, "When I looked at it I believed it was real money. It is very real looking."
Officer Miller says a man recently used a social media site to sell a camera and keyboard in a Walmart parking lot but after the sale he learned the bills were phony. The seller is out $500 and his property. That suspect drove off in a purple Dodge Caravan with no plates.
Police say along with counting the money when selling items, take a good look at it as fake money are marked that it is not legal and it is used for motion pictures.
If anyone has details on on the suspect, they are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 402-444-STOP.
