Update on Omaha area road construction projects

OMAHA, Nebraska - The Omaha area orange barrel road construction season is running up against the cold and snow season.

One of the biggest projects, the Harrison Street project is near completion, and weather-permitting, should be done in another week, with the road widened to five lanes with turn lanes. 6 News reports all that's left is finishing the medians.

Several other area projects will continue for months yet.

  • Paving at 108th Street, south of Q in Douglas County should be done by the end of the year.
  • New traffic signals and sidewalks being put in at 72nd and Maple streets will wrap up in the spring.
  • Repair and resurfacing of an eight mile stretch of West Maple Road will take another year.
  • Repaving of 168th and Giles up to 204th is expected to take two years.
