OMAHA, Nebraska - Parents of students attending Buffett Magnet Middle School were notified that a weapon was found in the grass by a staff member mowing along 144th Street. That item was turned over to police and determined it was an abandoned weapon.
School officials state that at no time were parents or students in danger.
It is not known what type of weapon was found.
The message went on to say that the safety of students and staff are a top priority.
