OMAHA, Nebraska - Yes, that was a camel at 72nd and Dodge Street Wednesday evening.
Tim Heller with Scatter Joy Acres says they brought Cameron the camel in to help celebrate hump day - and to raise awareness about their operation.
Heller tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB, "We have about 100 different animals at Scatter Joy Acres. Everything from goats, sheep, pigs, donkeys, alpacas, emus, ostrich and a camel."
Cameron's appearance was also to raise awareness of the non-profit's need. They are raising money to build a new heat controlled barn for the rescue animals. Heller says some of them are special needs animals and this would make their life much more comfortable.
Scatter Joy Acres is holding a "Raise the Woof" fundraiser on October 10th at the Platteview Country Club in Bellevue starting at 6:30 p.m. Funds raised will go toward the construction of that new rescue barn.
