The Papillion Police Department has completed its investigation of the vehicle-pedestrian accident on August 20, 2019 in downtown Papillion that resulted in the death of a young girl. The investigation has been forwarded to the Sarpy County Attorney’s Office for review and consideration of charges.
At approximately 4 p.m. on August 20, Abigail Whitford, 10, of Bellevue, Neb., was struck by a car driven by Masey Lawrence, 19, of Papillion, at Second and Washington Streets in downtown Papillion. According to witnesses, Whitford was crossing Washington Street with her brother when Lawrence’s northbound vehicle struck her. Lawrence remained on the scene. Whitford later died from her injuries.
