Residents of Plattsmouth have been alerted to a potential problem. The city's water treatment plant is not yet working after the spring flood. They are using above ground storage tanks to supply residents with water and people are exceeding their capability. If that trend continues water pressure will decline and that could make fighting fires difficult.
Residents are asked to limit water use. That includes watering the lawn and landscapes, outdoor washing of cars and other items, no filling of swimming pools and commercial car washes temporarily close. Restaurants are also asked to only serve water to customers who request it.
Contractors continue to work on the water treatment plant but a completion date has not yet been set.
Plattsmouth asks for the public's patience at this time.
