Sarpy County investigators say they have had a hard time getting information from anyone regarding the crash last month that killed four Gretna high school girls and injured a fifth.
They are hoping a $7,500 CrimeStoppers reward will help them find whoever provided alcohol to the teens. Four of the five girls had been drinking that night, including the driver.
"We have been spending a lot of time and a lot of resources investigating this case," Chief Deputy Greg London says. "We're trying to find out where the alcohol came from."
Investigators say they have two underage persons of interest they want to talk to about crash, but both have attorney's and aren't speaking to them. Captain Kevin Greiger says Roan Brandon, the lone survivor, has not made any statements to them and her family has hired an attorney.
London hopes the reward money will motivate someone to come forward and tell them where the teens got the booze. Community leader Bob Batt, a former member of the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission, donated $5,000. The Sarpy County Crime Stoppers donated $2,500.
Greiger confirms the girls were not at a party the night of the crash and had spent most of the evening in the high school parking lot. "They had left there, they were going on a drive and then they were going to one of their houses to spend the night prior to the crash."
Investigators say none of the teenagers were wearing seat belts. The car was traveling at more than 90 miles per hour when it went off the road near 180th and Platteview and caught fire. Investigators say the driver, Abigail Barth, had a blood alcohol level of .09.
She was killed along with Kloe Odermatt, Addisyn Pfeifer and Alexandria Minardi. Brandon suffered burns and was in the hospital for several days.
