Update: Two Arrests Made In Fairbury Death

Update: Two people were arrested in the possible murder of an adult male at Crystal Springs Park. That is located near Fairbury. They have been identified as Jerry Gilbert and Caitlin Grable. At approximately at 4 a.m. on Monday, July 8th, Gilbert led investigators to the deceased body of an adult male. The scene was processed and the body was recovered and transported to the Douglas County Coroner's Office for an autopsy on Wednesday morning. Upon a positive identification of the victim and notification of next of kin, his name will be released.

Gilbert is being held on 2nd Degree Murder, Use of a weapon to commit a felony, Felon in possession of a firearm, tampering with evidence and Improper disposal of human remains. A bond has not been set and a first appearance is pending.

Grable is being held on Accessory to 2nd Degree Murder, Possession of Controlled Substance, Assault, Tampering with Evidence. Bond has not been set and a first appearance is pending.

The Silver Honda with Texas plates CVZ4221 has been recovered.

Two people are in custody in connection to the death of a person found in a ditch southeast of Fairbury.

Jefferson County Sheriff's office arrested Jerry Gilbert of Odessa, Texas.He apparently showed authorities were the body could be located.

25 year old Gilbert is charged with 2nd degree murder, use of a weapon to commit a felony, felon in possession of a firearm, tampering with evidence and improper disposal of human remains.

21 year old Caitlyn Grable from Odessa is charged as an accessory to second degree murder.

Authorities were notified on July 4th of a murder that occurred in Fairbury on July 1st.Officials were notified Sunday that two people connected to the case were at a home near 15th and D Streets in Fairbury. Homes nearby were evacuated as law enforcement moved into the area. Gilbert and Grable were arrested around 5:30 p.m.

Authorities have not released the name of the victim and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office does not believe that Gilbert and the victim knew one another.

The investigation continues.
