The Omaha Police Department received 1,530 calls for fireworks complaints from June 27th through July 7th. There were several officers assigned to handle fireworks complaints. A total of 16 citations were issued during that time period.
Omaha Police conducted a Fireworks and Gun Amnesty on Saturday, July 6th at two locations. During that collection, 300 pounds of unused fireworks were collected along with 19 long guns, 1 short shotgun, six handguns, five BB or pellet guns and 650 pounds of ammunition.
