The final round of flood debris removal is scheduled for July 8th through July 12th for residents of both the unincorporated area and the City of Pacific Junction. Signed right of entry forms must be on file for pick-up to occur. All debris must be placed in the right of way by 7/8/19 for pick up during that week. The Iowa Department of Transportation and Sell Construction will be providing pick-up. Debris must be sorted into the following categories or pick up will not occur.
• Vegetative debris – Tree branches, leaves, logs & plants. DO NOT BAG this material.
• Construction/Demolition material – Carpet, drywall, furniture, lumber, mattresses, plumbing materials (including but not limited to tubs, showers, toilets, sinks, vanities, etc.…), shingles and tiles.
• Appliances – Air conditioners, refrigerators, furnaces, freezers, stoves, water heaters, dishwashers, washing machines and dryers.
• Electronics – Computers, televisions, stereos, radios and other devices with an electrical cord.
• Household Hazardous Waste – Cleaning supplies, lawn chemicals, oils, oil-based paints and stains, pesticides
All debris piles shall be placed in the right of way of the closest road (edge of road). Debris needs to be within 10 feet of the edge of the road (right of way). Debris should not be placed in an area to block or disrupt water flow through the ditches. If a property owner cannot reasonably place debris within the right-of-way, please contact the Mills County Engineer’s Office at (712) 527-4873 to make other arrangements. If Right of Entry forms are needed, these can be supplied by the Engineer’s Office.
Agricultural property owners should utilize the Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) facilitated through the USDA Farm Service Agency except for your personal residence which will be included in the above outlined plan.
Debris pick-up for those who have not yet been able to access their homes will be identified through the Mills County Disaster Coalition/Case Management and will be arranged on an as needed basis.
Members of the public are cautioned that heavy equipment and hazardous conditions will be present during this time period in the debris removal area. It is essential that individuals remove themselves from the area during pick-up as to not interfere with the clean-up process and to assure their safety.
