Lincoln Man Accused Of Turning Pitbull Lose On Officers

A 19-year-old Lincoln man is facing a long list of charges after police say he fought with officers and turned his pitbull on them.

The officers went to John Thompson's home at 3720 N.W. Ebony Court after a woman reported her 13 year old daughter ran into the home.

Thompson refused to allow officers into his house to search for the runaway. The officers smelled marijuana and tried to detain Thompson. He got into a fight with officers and punched one of them in the head several times.

Lincoln Police spokesperson Angela Sands says Thompson then opened the door and called for his pit bull to attack the officers.

The pit bull bit one of the officers in the buttocks and Sands say Thompson then spit a mixture of blood and saliva on one of the officers. She says Thompson also bit one of the officers on the knee, breaking the officer's skin.

Thompson was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and one count of assault using a bodily fluid.

Thompson could face up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
