A 15 year old Lincoln Southeast student who was found with a loaded with a gun at school on Monday is also accused of stealing a pair of vehicles the day before.
Lincoln Police say on Sunday morning around 10 a.m. a 41-year-old woman said she left her Ford F-150 parked on the street with the key in the center console. She later noticed the vehicle had been stolen. Around 8:00 p.m. Sunday witnesses spotted the pickup in an alley near 16th and Calvert.
Surveillance footage from the area helped police develop a 15-year-old as a suspect. Around 9:30 p.m. Sunday a 20 year old woman reported she stopped at the Super C at 3202 S 10th Street and left her passengers in the car while she went inside. When she returned she realized one of the passengers had stolen her car.
Through video surveillance and witness interviews, officers developed a 15 year old boy as the suspect and connected him to the theft of the Ford F150.
Officer’s contacted the boy's parent and on Monday he was interviewed at Lincoln Southeast High School. He was taken into custody for the auto thefts and during a search of his backpack, a loaded handgun was found.
He was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm on school grounds, carrying a concealed weapon, unlawful possession of a revolver, theft by unlawful taking and theft by receiving stolen property.
