Electric Scooters On Hold

Electric scooters were supposed to be on Omaha city streets starting today but that has been put on hold.

The City Council approved the scooters but Mayor Jean Stothert put them on hold for now. Her office says they have questions that need answers first. The issue will be revisited on Monday.

The city gave the company the go-ahead for a 6 month pilot project. Riders would use the Lime app to sign up and locate scooters across the city. Riders will be able to scan the bar code on the scooters handlebars using the app and away they go.

It costs $1 to unlock a scooter and 29-cents-a-minute after that.

The original plan called for the scooters to be available in Benson, Midtown Crossing, Aksarben and downtown.
