A 32 year old Lincoln man is recovering after being shot in his genitals. Lincoln Police say Peter Jacobsson was walking near 33rd and Portia when he accidentally dropped a handgun. It discharged when it hit the ground and Jacobsson was struck by the bullet.
Jacobsson made it to a hospital when police were called to investigate. They got conflicting accounts of what happened when the spoke with Jacobsson and witnesses.
Jacobsson will survive but he was cited for several violations that include possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person and discharge of a weapon in the city limits.
The incident happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday.
