Investigators say a 2015 Nissan Altima sedan was northbound near Lake Street when it collided with rear bumper of a northbound 1995 Chevy Tahoe. The collision caused the Chevy to slide off the roadway and roll after it hit a metal light pole.
The driver, 32 year old Jerome Payton, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. The Nissan continue on for approximately 100 yards before it stopped. Police say the driver showed signs of impairment. 23 year old Meghan Kinsey was eventually booked for DUI-Serious Bodily Injury, reckless driving and not wearing a seat belt.
