The Nebraska Humane Society says a 25 year old woman has been arrested for starving her Pit Bull to death inside her Omaha apartment. Officers with the Metro Fugitive Task Force served a felony arrest warrant for animal cruelty on Wednesday at her apartment near 48th and Lafayette.
The investigation shows that Colbenson allowed an adult female Pit Bull named Bella to starve to death while confined in a kennel in her apartment.
The dead dog was seized on January 1, 2019 by Animal Control Officers, from Colbenson’s address, after she called NHS to report her dog had died. She admitted to neglecting the dog and that it died in its kennel.
A necropsy by an NHS veterinarian verified the cause of death as starvation. When Colbenson was arrested Wednesday, 22 days after her deceased dog was removed from the apartment, she already had a new young adult Pit Bull in her apartment.
The dog was removed, along with a cat and they are currently being held at the Nebraska Humane Society.
