Lincoln Police Officer Resigns After DUI

Lincoln Police say officer Matthew Brodd has resigned from the department following a DUI investigation. Brodd had been an officer for 21 years.

Investigators say on Sunday, December 2nd at approximately 4:36 p.m., Brodd was driving a Toyota Tacoma when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a light pole on the northwest corner of North 45th Street and Vine Street causing damage to the vehicle and the light pole.  

Brodd was off duty at the time and was the only person in the vehicle.  He was transported to a local hospital to be treated for injuries. 

On December 13th, Lincoln Police received the results of the chemical test for blood alcohol levels from the Nebraska State Lab.  The test showed Brodd's blood alcohol level was .173.

On December 17th, Brodd was cited by the Lincoln Police Department for 1st offense DUI, No Seat Belt and Speed Too Fast for Conditions.
