The man accused of killing a 23 year old woman last January at 28th and Ruggles is getting out of jail. The murder trial for 22 year old Taliaferro Thompson was scheduled to start next week but the state dismissed all charges.
Ashlyn Higgins and her boyfriend had met with Thompson to buy marijuana. It was Higgins boyfriend who told police that he and Higgins were shot by Thompson. Investigators say witnesses continue to cooperate but the story has changed.
Thompson was arrested in Kansas City last March.
The state can refile murder charges if they obtain more evidence.
