Convicted Murderer Denied Second Appeal

A man convicted of killing a University of Nebraska-Omaha student has again been denied an appeal.

On Friday, the Nebraska Supreme Court rejected Christopher Edwards' latest appeal for post-conviction relief. The high court upheld a lower court's denial of Edwards' second motion for post-conviction relief, saying that it was filed too late. The appeal said that the lower court should have held an evidentiary hearing on  Edwards' claim and that his attorney was ineffective. In 2012, the high court rejected Edwards' first appeal. In that motion, Edwards argued that a corrupt Douglas County crime scene investigator planted blood evidence to frame him.

Edwards was convicted of Second Degree Murder in the 2006 disappearance of nineteen year old Jessica O'Grady, whose body was never found. Edwards was sentenced to 100 years to life.
