A Council Bluffs man was killed and his passenger critically injured in a head on crash near Lake Cunningham Saturday night.
Omaha Police say 21-year-old Joseph Daniels and 21-year-old Thomas Greise from Council Bluffs were headed westbound on Highway 36 around 7:40 p.m. when an eastbound pickup truck crossed the center line and slammed head-on into the car near Lake Cunningham Road.
Police say Daniels died at the scene and Greise was taken to the hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
Police said while paramedics were checking the pickup driver for injuries they noticed signs that he had been drinking. After an investigation was conducted, 28 year old Tony Kenkel of Earling, Iowa was booked into the Douglas County Jail felony motor-vehicle homicide and DUI causing serious bodily injury.
