A 30 year old Council Bluffs man thought he was talking to a 13 year old girl. Detectives with the Council Bluffs Police Department had been talking online with Andrew Newport through social media and text messages since late last week. The “girl” Newport was talking to was really an undercover detective. During their conversations, Newport offered to pay for sex and also sent a photo of his genitalia.
Newport thought he was arranging a meeting Tuesday to have sex with the girl. Once he arrived at the meeting location, Newport was taken in for questioning. He was then booked into the Pottawattamie County Jail for sexual exploitation of a minor, enticing a minor, solicitation and dissemination of obscene material.
