The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the Labor Day weekend is one of the deadliest times on the roads. In 2016, there were 433 roadway fatalities due to drunk driving.
In an effort to keep all motorists safe, AAA is again offering their free Tow-To-Go service starting Friday and running through 6 a.m. Tuesday, September 4th.
Nebraska spokesperson Rose White says, "Tow-To-Go offers a confidential local ride to a safe location within 10 miles while towing your vehicle. The AAA tow truck takes the vehicle and the driver home. It is free and available to AAA members and non-members and it is available across Nebraska and Iowa." There service may not be available in some rural areas or during severe weather conditions.
Tow-To-Go is in its 20th year and while AAA urges ride sharing services or having designated drivers, the program has safely removed more than 25,000 impaired drivers from roads across the Southeast and Midwest.
White says, "Tow-To-Go is a great option for people who find themselves, or their friends, in need of a safe way home.
The number to call to get a ride and tow is 1-855-2-TOW-2-Go, or 1-855-286-9246. You can also get more information on the program by clicking here.
