A Bellevue Police officer was arrested after authorities responded to his home near 189th and L Street Sunday night to investigate the death of a 48 year old woman.
Douglas County Sheriff's deputies met with 52 year old Craig Wiech at the scene. Officials said Wiech and Carrie Brown were in a relationship and lived in the same home. Wiech has been a Bellevue police officer for 22 years.
The sheriff's department says when they arrived at the home around 10:00 Wiech became combative with first responders and assaulted an officer. He was booked for Assault on a Peace Officer.
Deputies found Brown dead from a gunshot wound in a bedroom. Bellevue Police say Brown worked as a civilian employee for the Bellevue Police Department for over eight years. She started her career as a Front Desk Clerk in 2009 and became an Evidence Technician in 2014.
The investigation continues into what led up to her death.
