Frost: No Quarterback Announcement Yet

Just a week away from Nebraska's first game of the season, and Scott Frost says he isn't ready to announce who he has in mind for starting quarterback.

Speaking after Friday's practice, Frost told reporters that he has someone in mind though. "We've had a couple meetings on it as a coaching staff and Mario and I have talked privately. so we have an idea of where we're going."

Frost said this isn't his first time stretching the QB decision into the first week of play. "My second year at Oregon came down to Nate Costa and Darron Thomas and it was right before this first week. Even when Marcus Mariota started it was him and Bryan Bennett right up until the first week."

The head coach says no matter who comes out ahead in the QB race between Tristan Gebbia and Adrian Martinez, both players will be needed. "Both those guys have gotten plenty of reps to be ready to player, and we're gonna need both of them this year."

Frost also made the announcement that due to recurring knee problems, Junior running back Tre Bryant will be ending his football career. "I feel terrible for the kid cause I think he had a future in the game, and a bright future in the game. It's hard. He talks about going home and not being able to at night because of aching and pain in there. This game has to end for all of us at some point, it's just sad when you see one that has to end too early."
