The mother of a man who died in an altercation with Omaha Police has now filed a lawsuit against the city.
Court records show that Renita Chalepah, the mother of Zachary Bearheels, filed the wrongful death suit Monday. It alleges that police used excessive force when illegally detaining Bearheels and that officers didn't get him proper mental illness treatment.
In a police video of the June 2017 incident, an officer is seen using a taser on 29 year old Bearheels with another officer punching Bearheels while he was already on the ground.
