An eighteen year old man has been hospitalized after attacking a police officer while reportedly on hallucinogens.
Lincoln Police say just before midnight on Friday, a security guard called police after confronting a naked man who was trespassing in a business lot near 84th and O Street. The man had reportedly stripped down naked in the lot, slapped the security guard and urinated on the security vehicle.
A Lincoln Police officer arrived on scene a short time later and the man was still naked. He jumped on the hood of the police cruiser causing over $300 in damage. The officer then instructed the man to get on the ground and he charged towards the officer.
The officer deployed his taser, but it had no effect on the man. He began to struggle with the officer and punched the officer on the right side of his face. The officer sustained swelling to his face, and injuries to his wrist and leg.
Authorities suspect that the man was under the influence of LSD and was eventually taken into custody after additional officers arrived to help. The man was transported to the hospital and is still under observation for the suspected overdose.
