Lincoln Woman Dies In Early Morning Home Invasion Shooting

A 36 year old Lincoln woman has died following an early morning home invasion shooting. 

Lincoln Police say the officers were dispatched to a home near 19th and Fairfield around 3:45 Tuesday morning for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, the woman's family was attempting to revive her. Lincoln Police officers took over CPR until Lincoln Fire and Rescue medic units could arrive. 

The woman was transported to a local hospital where she died at just before 5:00. There were four children and two other adults in the home at the time of the shooting.

The Lincoln Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit and Northwest Team are completing interviews, conducting a neighborhood canvas and analyzing evidence seized thus far. A search of the home will be completed by members of the joint Lincoln Police Department and Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigations Unit. 

The name of the deceased is being withheld to ensure her family and friends have been notified. An autopsy has been scheduled.
