The Nebraska Humane Society has a cat-tastrophie on their hands.
They have 150 cats currently available for adoptions. They are also holding cats in their stray kennels and if they are not claimed they too will be put up for adoption. They have 150 foster homes with kittens that will need homes and their PetSmart location kennels are also full.
NHS is looking for good homes for all of these cats so they can make room for those waiting for an adoption kennel. They are asking owners who want to surrender cats to wait a week or two before doing so in hopes they can make room.
Now through the weekend there is no adoption fee for all cats 6 months and older. Starting Saturday they are lowering kitten prices and those under six months are $100 but you can get two for one. All the cats are spayed or neutered, micro chipped, have their first shots and rabies vaccinations. Adopters will have to pay a licensing fee if applicable.
