Man Critically Injured In House Fire

A man is in the hospital after Omaha firefighters pulled him from a burning house near 75th and Valley around 8:30 Monday morning.                                                                

Battalion Chief Mark Driscoll says initial reports were that at least one person was trapped inside the house. When firefighters arrived their was heavy smoke coming from the home.  They made their way through the thick smoke and rescued the man.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

"We have heavy smoke damage throughout the entire house, but it appears that most of the fire damage is in the basement."  

The home has extensive damage and is unlivable. A family dog died in the fire.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
