An Omaha Police officer is recovering after being hit by an intoxicated driver while in his cruiser.
The crash reportedly happened around 3:00 Thursday morning near 108th and Manderson. Police shut down the intersection for several hours to investigate and a tow truck was on scene around 5:00 to clear the wreckage.
A tweet from the Omaha Police Officers Association reads that, “We are grateful that one of our members was not gravely injured or killed last night when they were struck by an intoxicated driver.” The group says the officer was treated at the hospital and released.
