There is no doubt a trip to Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium can be a magical experience. The sounds of peacocks calling. The whir of the train rushing by. Elephants trumpeting. Then in the distance, you hear a small child screaming as his exhausted parents pry him off the glass at the gorilla house.
If throngs of kids and strollers have kept you away from the zoo, good news! Zoo spokeswoman Madison Woltemath tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB that they will be hosting three 'Late Night at the Zoo' events. Attendees must be 21 and over to join in on the fun. Woltemath says the grown-ups only event will allow guests to enjoy a cocktail, stroll around zoo exhibits and enjoy eats from local food trucks, all kid free.
Exhibits that will be open during the events will include the Wild Kingdom Pavilion, Lied Jungle, Scott Aquarium, Desert Dome, Kingdoms of the Night and parts of the African Grasslands.
The first 'Late Night' will be Thursday, June 28th from 7:00-10:00 PM with future events planned for July 26th and August 23rd. Food trucks on hand for Thursday's event will be Gyro Shack, Scotty's Go-Go Grill, Maui Wowi and the Piccolo's Mobile Venue.
Admission is $10 for zoo members and $15 for non-members.
