New Stadium Food Awaits CWS Fans

There will be some changes in the lineup for food options at this year's College World Series.  NewsRadio 1110 KFAB got a preview of the new tasty treats and some of them can be easily shared with family and friends.

Executive Sous Chef Chris Myers says there are many new items this year and the real crowd pleaser might be the Colossal Tot.  “The Colossal Tot – they’re one pound tater tots,” Myers says. “We didn’t just want to do another loaded tot like everybody does. We've got three different flavors, there is buffalo blue cheese, there is a chili cheese and a poutine, a gravy and cheddar cheese. "

There’s also a big spread of nachos in a giant carrying case that Myers says can feed 3-4 people. “We call it the NachOmaha because it has Omaha steaks and a local hot sauce from volcanic peppers on it.”

There were a few people who got to try out the food this year and they all say it’s a hit.  Myers says each year baseball fans are looking for special food at this special event.

“I might be looking for a little bit more and that’s what this is – it’s a special event. We want to create some really special items that people can try and have fun with,” Myers says.  Other items include battered pickle fries, a cinnamon sugar pretzel and a spicy burger called the Wild Thing.

For fans looking for a few less calories Myers says they have the bases covered. “In addition to the loaded everything you get at the ball park, you get a couple of healthy options. We have a turkey burger, which is a turkey burger with mozzarella cheese a basil pesto and tomato on it. Kind of a classic caprese salad just put on a turkey burger. We have some different salads in the club level and our action stations in the suites. One of them is called greens and grains,” Meyers says

The 2018 College World Series starts with Opening Ceremonies on Friday.  The first games will be played June 16.
