Four people were sent to the hospital after being injured in a Memorial Day hit and run crash.
Omaha Police says around 5:45 Monday evening emergency crews were called to Fontenelle Blvd. and Curtis Ave. for a personal injury collision. Traffic investigators say a Buick Lucerne was northbound on Fontenelle when the passenger side of the sedan was hit by a westbound Chevy Trailblazer.
Witnesses told officers that the Buick had a green traffic signal and was in the intersection when it was struck by the Chevy. Witnesses also say the SUV was speed at the time of the impact. The driver of the Trailblazer and a passenger both fled from the vehicle on foot. The driver is described as a black male, approximately 20-25 yrs old and having a slender build.
Three passengers in the Buick were transported to Nebraska Medicine with serious injuries. Two of the passengers were children, ages five and three, and were not restrained in any type of child restraint safety system.
The injured passengers are identified as sixteen year old Talesha Glover-Flakes, who suffered a non-life threatening head injury, five year old Stephen Russell, who sustained a broken leg, and three year old Devon Morris. Morris sustained the most serious injuries in the crash. He was transported with CPR in progress and has life threatening injuries to his chest and head per medical staff.
The driver of the Buick, eighteen year old Mar'keshia Devers, was taken by private vehicle to Immanuel Hospital with bumps and bruises.
