One man is facing charges after leading Council Bluffs Police on a dangerous chase Tuesday morning.
Council Bluffs Police say just before 3:00, officers tried to pull over a suspicious truck near a construction company on South 11th Street.
Authorities say the driver of the pickup, 28 year old Clifton Wade, fled the area recklessly at high speeds, which prompted a pursuit of the pickup. The pursuit went onto southbound I‐29, with the suspect vehicle and cruisers exiting at the Highway 370 interchange. The truck then drove north on the frontage road that runs parallel to I‐29, before eventually getting back on I‐29 by driving through the ditch.
Once back on I‐29, the driver of the pickup intentionally rammed two Council Bluffs police cruisers. The officer in the second cruiser that was struck then fired his service weapon, hitting the driver of the pickup.
Wade was then removed from the vehicle and taken into custody. He was transported to an Omaha hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to his arm and cuts to his faces. His injuries are not considered life‐threatening at this time. Two officers involved were treated and released from a local hospital.
He is facing attempted murder, assault of a police officer and felony eluding charges.
