A pet python on the loose in Papillion ended with a frightening wake-up call for a man inside his apartment. Nebraska Humane Society's Vice President of Field Operations Mark Langan says the man woke up around 4:00 a.m. to find a ball python inside his unit.
Langan says, "We haven't found the owner yet so we are surmising that it got loose from another apartment, went through the ventilation system, found its way into the other apartment where the owner of that apartment found the snake wrapped around his computer."
Langan says it is a ball python about 3 feet long. He says when people hear the word python they typically become afraid. He says they won't harm anyone and poses no danger but the idea of one unexpectedly in your apartment is alarming.
Pythons are legal to own and Langan says the owner will not face any charges. The snake is at the Humane Society waiting to be claimed. If no one steps forward it will be put up for adoption.
